Building self-esteem and confidence through NLP

Building self-esteem and confidence through NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) will have you soaring to new heights in no time no matter what your age. High self-esteem and NLP go together like apple pie and cream. Whilst apple pie is great to eat by itself, once you add a dollop of cream it takes on a whole new taste and opens you up to an even more enjoyable experience.

NLP is an extremely effective method for building self-esteem and confidence in women over 40.

Self-esteem in women over 40

It often isn’t until we reach our 40s that we start to re-evaluate our lives. All of a sudden we wake up and realise that we have misplaced our identity because we have spent a large part of our lives looking after others.

We have been so involved with our daily chores and activities that we have forgotten to look after the most important person, ourselves.

It is at this time that self-esteem in women can take a nose dive.

It could be that our children have grown and don’t need us as much anymore, or our job no longer satisfies us, or maybe we feel distanced from our partner and alone.

Whatever it may be, the 40s and 50s can be a time of reflection and change. Often with change we experience self-doubt and fear. These can erode our self-esteem and confidence in a heartbeat.

Building self-esteem activities: An overview

You may be wondering how NLP can help you in building self-esteem and confidence. In fact, there are many ways.

However, I would love to share with you one very powerful technique that if practised often will have people seeing themselves in a totally different light.

It helps them to create the self-esteem and confidence they yearn for and life they desire.

This technique involves a visualisation process that, if practised in the morning, can help to propel them through their day with a smile on their faces and joy in their hearts.

Because our unconscious mind cannot differentiate between the real and the imaginary, great things can be accomplished through visualisation.

Building self-esteem activities: Step 1

Create an image of yourself as you are now.

Close your eyes and formulate an image in your mind of how you see yourself externally. Notice the clothes you are wearing, the colour of your hair, your facial expressions and what position you are in.

Notice what you are telling yourself and how you are feeling right now. Imagine everything in as much detail as possible.

It is important that you are dissociated from this image of yourself, in other words, you are looking at yourself from another position and not through your own eyes.

Building self-esteem activities: Step 2

Now I want you to have some fun with the image and change it to show a more positive you with self-esteem and confidence.

Forget about all those little imperfections that you see every day when looking in the mirror and begin to see yourself in a positive light.

Start to brighten up the image and make it larger.

In your mind add your favourite music and smile to yourself.

Utilise all your modalities, e.g. what you are hearing, what you are seeing and how you are feeling. Create a really vivid picture in your mind as you focus on all your strong and positive characteristics.

You are a beautiful spirit with many fabulous attributes so maximise the positive and minimise the negative. This all helps in building self-esteem and confidence.

Building self-esteem activities: Step 3

You will now be starting to notice a difference in your state of mind because you have altered your focus.

This is the time to exaggerate all the things that you love about yourself, so choose to focus on your positives and create an intense feeling for all the positive aspects that make you special and unique.

Building self-esteem activities: Step 4

Once you have formed a vivid, colourful, bright image of yourself and you can feel your self-esteem and confidence building, compare this image with the image you had of yourself in the beginning. This will make your transformation even more powerful.

Connect with how you are feeling about both images and notice the differences.

Building self-esteem activities: Step 5

Make the intention to keep the positive image with you all day.

You have placed yourself in the driver’s seat of your life and now have everything you need to experience the ultimate joy and freedom that this positive image will give you.

Get ready for a day that is unlike any other because you are now connected to the real you and you possess a healthy level of confidence and high self-esteem.

Building self-esteem activities: the final step.

Practise and play with this technique as often as you need because repetition and intensity will ensure that your visualisation becomes firmly entrenched.

Shift your focus and reap the benefits that high self-esteem and confidence can offer you now, and for your future.

Building self-esteem and confidence with NLP has worked for me. Let it work for you too.
