Wendy Moore | Self-Esteem | The job had to go

Read how Wendy's best investment was in herself.

I was born in Australia. My father is from Scotland, my mother from Australia. I am 42 and based in Melbourne.

With a background in information technology, I made it to the very top of the corporate IT world, managing $45 million budgets and teams of up to 35 people before gut wrenching stress forced me to reassess my life. I discovered my true passion and the job had to go.

A love of real estate saw me become a full time investor. As friends began asking me about my new passion, I felt driven to share my experiences and so formed Affluencia.Com, a women's real estate investing network where through educational programs, products and events, women learned how to invest successfully in real estate.

In 2008, I received a Highly Commended, in the MCEI National Marketing Awards 2008, Women in Business Category.

As my real estate education business was largely internet based, and with over 14 years experience in the Information Technology industry and a computing degree, I set about discovering as much as I could about the Internet and how to successfully run a business and build a list online. Thus Savvy Web Women was born.

I now educate and empower hundreds of women on how to better understand the Internet to build a highly responsive, targeted list of clients specific to their business niche.

In 2009, Savvy Web Women was named as the Victorian Online Small Business Winner in the Australian Small Business Champion Awards. I was also a finalist in two categories in the Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

I have overcome a loss of confidence by just getting out there and doing it, my way.

What has helped me build my confidence is finding fabulous mentors and supportive friends.

It’s good to be confident because I feel well within myself. People are attracted to those that are comfortable and confident with themselves.

I stay confident by continually learning, growing, loving and giving.

I agree with Wendy and thanks for the article. Leaving the corporate world and following your passion, is great. It can take time and several attempts to be successful, but never give up no matter your age.

This statement is so true, and I think if more women could feel balanced in their lives their true inner self would shine and the follow on in their lives would be more people like you Wendy.. willing to take the next step and not only empower themselves, but others along the way too.
